Best Thing Ever: Illustrated Tweets

You know sometimes you look through your Twitter timline and some tweets are so absurd and are just begging to be illustrated? Well, at least one single serving Tumblr know what I'm talking about.

Karen Kurycki takes some of the more genius tweets and turns them into beautiful illustrations. They are honestly the best and funniest things I've seen in a long time, and as she puts it "kind of like a 'Kids Say The Darnest Things' for adults."

Not even kidding when I say I want most, if not all, of these as prints to hang on my wall. Enjoy.

“Someone should make a dog chew in the shape of a pipe so when they are carrying it around they look like dapper gents.”

“Don’t know a ton about evolution but pretty sure that between eagles and bald eagles we had combover eagles."

“Every time we have challah in the house I have to shout Ha! Luh! as if I were hosting Yo! MTV Raps.”

And my personal favourite “Guess my last real date was back in ‘93 when I ate a dozen cupcakes & danced to ‘I’m Every Woman’ on repeat with my cat until we both puked.”

For more amazingness, hop over to Absurd Overhead or give it a follow on Tumblr.

So this documentary on spiders starts out pretty normal....

until it doesn't.

The River Song

One of my favourite things about living in Singapore is the amount of honest musical talent we have. Sure, they may not be selling out shows in minutes or topping the radio charts (hell, they're not even on the radio mostly) but they're good, humble and full of amazingness.

One such example is everyone's favourite (without a doubt) local band Plain Sunset and of course, its spin-off front man Jon Chan. (Trivia: As a young teenager, I had the BIGGEST crush on this man. I freaked out when I found out he lives a stone's throw away from me, and especially so when he turned up at my house for a party one night. And then we became friends. 14 year old me would be proud.)

Jon  recently appeared in a video for a certain Audrey's final year project where he talks about daily life in Singapore and how it inspired the birth of the beautiful River Song.

I'm pretty sure the story behind the song was he was walking home one night from Home Club to .. home which is a good-solid-many-many-hours-long walk — and he was so taken in by the lights and sights around him, which is something I also personally love about Singapore. Also, every time I hear it I believe this needs to be a National Day song.

Jeff Mangum @ Coachella 2012

I'm not one for Coachella buzzbands or Bon Iver, but Neutral Milk Hotel has always been pretty important to me. It's like a weird affinity I have with their music.

Besides annoying the fuck out of my neighbours in college trying to learn this on the ukelele, I actually genuinely love Aeroplane Over the Sea. It is seriously one of the best songs ever.

If there was only one Coachella highlight for me, since I'm not actually there, this would be it. I'm glad Jeff played this at Coachella. All uncompassingly amazing.

But rly, Team Jennifer Aniston 4 ever.

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike

Lee Jeans is running a 'The City is Mine' campaign, having expanded their range of clothes to include cycling gear. Streething caught up with Singaporean visual artist Luthfi Mustafah aka The Killer Gerbil to talk about is love for the sport/hobby/thingIusetodoasakidbutneverreallygotbackintobecauseithurtsmybutt.

He talks about taking a break from art to work at Lifecycle, a lifestyle bicycle shop. He also talks about his progression in riding preference, and his favourite spot to cycle in Singapore.

SG represent.

Ye Olde Chinese Quote

"A man with a beard is respected. The same applies to mountains. A person with a beard and hair is like a mountain covered with forest and grass. In the same vein, a mountain sheltered in forest and grass is like a person well clothed. A barren mountain is no different from a naked person, exposing its flesh and bone. An unsheltered mountain with poor soil painfully resembles a penniless and rugged man."

Nutella Banana Gyoza

This post is for everyone who is not Ro. Because if I remember correct, she hates bananas.

La Fuji Mama's Nutella Banana Gyozas is as food porny as food porn gets. It combines the best of both worlds: Japanese food + chocolate.

Just imagining what these would taste like is making me drool. Bananas. Nutella. Perfection.

This cat is totally related to the NONONONONONONOO cat. In my mind.
It also sounds like NONONONO cat audio was dubbed over this. In my mind.

But if it isn't....WHY DO ALL YOUR CATS MAKE SPECIAL NOISES RUSSIA?! Why?! I mean I really want a nonono cat, but do your cats think they're people? Srsly.

Nail Art: Beysus Christ & Jay Zed

This picture is so amahzing, I had to share it. I literally started laugh crying when it appeared while I was scrolling through ONTD's 'celeb' nail art post.

Like Queen Bey, I hope to be immortalized on acrylic nails as well.
Some day.
