Madly In Love With: An 8-Bit Motorcycle?

This is a wee bit old, but I saw this on some random blog and I freaking love it. Justin Harder from Harder Studios created an 8-bit motorcycle for a FuelTV promo and it's all sorts of badass. It looks pixelated, just like a real bike on a Super Nintendo!  IS YOUR MIND BLOWN? There's even a matching helmet.

I could totally see Duke Nukem picking up chicks with this pixel hog (though it's based off the Nintendo classic game Excite Bike, so there's no actual way Duke would ever be able to get his hands on this baby).

Madly In Love With: Tina Fey

Damn it Tina Fey, you're amazing.

And you're my idol.

Also here's something else just in case you need more reason to love her.

“Dear Internet” by Tina Fey

From by jerkstore on Wednesday, 1/21/2009, 11:21 P.M.

“In my opinion Tina Fey completely ruined SNL. The only reason she’s celebrated is because she’s a woman and an outspoken liberal. She has not a single funny bone in her body.”

“Dear jerkstore,

Huzzah for the Truth Teller! Women in this country have been over-celebrated for too long. Just last night there was a story on my local news about a “missing girl,” and they must have dedicated seven or eight minutes to “where she was last seen” and “how she might have been abducted by a close family friend,” and I thought, “What is this, the News for Chicks?” Then there was some story about Hillary Clinton flying to some country because she’s secretary of state. Why do we keep talking about these dumdums? We are a society that constantly celebrates no one but women and it must stop! I want to hear what the men of the world have been up to. What fun new guns have they invented? What are they raping these days? What’s Michael Bay’s next film going to be?

When I first set out to ruin SNL, I didn’t think anyone would notice, but I persevered because—like you trying to do a nine-piece jigsaw puzzle—it was a labor of love.

I’m not one to toot my own horn, but I feel safe with you, jerkstore, so I’ll say it. Everything you ever hated on SNL was by me, and anything you ever liked was by someone else who did it against my will.

Tina Fey

P.S. You know who does have a funny bone in her body? Your mom every night for a dollar.”

#oldbutgold - Tina Fey is the Queen of the Internet. After me.

Symmetry, Words and Everything Else In Between

The following video speaks for itself:

Radiolab once again collaborates with their spirit animal Everynone to produce a visually striking piece that “plays with our yearning for balance, and reveals how beautiful imperfect matches can be.”

If you find the partnership familiar, these are the same folks behind and equally awesome video, Words.

Words have the power to shape the way we think and feel. In this stunning video, filmmakers Will Hoffman and Daniel Mercadante bandy visual wordplay into a moving exploration of how language connects our inner thoughts to the outside world.

US Marines X Britney Spears

Did you know that there are American troops are in Afghanistan? I am assuming (/hoping) the answer is yes, by also assuming that you are smart by virtue of being on this site.

Do you know what they're actually up to? Probably not.

Up till now.

And if it means anything, Queen B approves.

Personally, I hate the song. BUT I gots to say the soldiers did a great job, and it's definitely in the running to be one of the top lip dub videos in the history of ever. If I were American, I'd feel a weird sense of patriotism. As well as Oh-Shit-Gaize-We're-Doomed.

Foreign Policy

This post is not about politics. But if it were, I think we could all agree on Foreign Policy.... Design that is. Foreign Policy Design is a local design agency (Singapore represent) that I chanced upon on Graphic-Exchange, and they've done brilliant identity and design work for places like the Wanderlust Hotel (featured below).

FPD is awesome, and their work just completely stomps on the stereotype of this sunny island not being a breeding ground for ideas and creativity.

I really love their work and you should check them out at @

Life Changing Slurpee Cup: A Love Letter

Dear dual-chambered Slurpee cup,

What took you so long to come into existance? What a magical contraption you are - with a special valve and two straws allowing me to drink one or two Slurpee flavours at a time, in the ratio that I want.

It all seems so obvious now, doesn't it?

You'll only be arriving in the US of A in June, so I can't even begin to imagine how long it'll take for you reach our side of town. But I know that when and if you do, it'll be worth the wait.

Madly In Love With: Juliana Santacruz Herrera

I don't know about other places, but here in Singapore re-tarring of roads is pretty common. Just on my street alone, I'm pretty sure it happens about twice a year.

Now I'm not at all saying it's a bad thing, but here's an idea we can steal from the French - why not knit over the imperfections instead?

In Paris, Juliana Santacruz Herrera's pothole interventions are brightening up the monochromatic steets with pops of colour, texture and just plain fun.

Always amazing what a simple idea can grow into. You can view more pictures from the project on the designer's Flickr set.

These are some of the things I figured I would probably like to do in Australia

1. Walk Along Australia's Most Beautiful Beach, Wineglass Bay

2. Visit Lord Howe Island

3. Grab A Seat At The Australian Open..WANT THIS SO MUCH.

4. Have A Picnic Then Watch Short Films Into The Night At Tropfest

5. Dive The Great Barrier Reef

It’s the world’s largest reef system, longer than the Great Wall of China, and it can even be seen from space. WHY NOT?!!

Burberry: Fashion + Science = Sexy

Okay, maybe I don't really mean science. It's not really sciencey. Its more techy then anything. Trekky even if the models could actually be beamed onto the stage.

At the their Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2011 in Beijing, Burberry decided, eh a hologram runway show would be nice. AND IT WAS BRILLIANT. I know holograms on the runway are nothing new, but holographic models are still unchartered territory. And I believe that with this show Burberry really pushed the boundaries of what a fashion show should be, and turned a catwalk into a runway of spectacular.

Ready to be blown away and feel like what you're doing is totally effortless as compared?

These are Vogue covers. That have been replicated exactly. By knit. #minblow.

Honest Logos

Don't you sometimes catch yourself watching YouTube and wondering, "Why don't just they call it Place On Internet Where People Watch Cats"? Well, you're in luck!

A certain Mr Viktor H has an idea for an art project titled Honest Logos - which is "a series with honest logos, revealing the actual content of the company, what they really should be called. Some are cheap, some might be a bit funny, some will maybe be brilliant. I don't know."

I would say bonus points if you can guess immediately what the original brand is, but really if you can't - you need to get off the Internet.

The Dan Band

If you've seen the Hangover or Old School you've probably already been introduced to The Dan Band. Dan Finnerty and his crew are a comedy trio know for adding the sensual to 50 Cent's Candy Shop, and reworking classics like Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart, bringing out the true emotions of the song (like it wasn't fall to the floor, pour your soul out-ish enough already).

Besides the awesome covers, what The Dan Band really brings to the stage are the sickest dance moves. Britney Spears only wishes she could dance that sexxy.

This post could be so much better, considering its The Dan Band, but I'm a wee bit tired.

World Weirdest Hotels

The Underwater Hotel Restaurant

At the Conrad Hotel on Rangali Island, Maldives, the world's only glass-roofed underwater restaurant offers views of tropical fish and coral reefs 16 feet below sea level.

The Sand Hotel

It took seven days and 1,000 tons of sand for sculptors to create this oddity on the beaches of Dorset, England. The hotel features both twin and double bedrooms, which are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

To celebrate the relaunching of Holiday Inn properties around the world in 2009, the chain built a 400-square-foot New York "hotel" that was made out of more than 200,000 plastic key cards and weighed 4,000 pounds. It was open (to the media, of course) for five days.

Madly In Love With: Stéphane Vigny

Ever see something just that makes envelopes you in complete awe? That's the inspiration behind the Madly In Love With series. And this will be the debut post!

Right now I'm loving French sculptural artist Stéphane Vigny (art with floro tubes is the shit).

Do have a look at his portfolio @

I Choose You!

The only real love is PokeLove. If these don't make your heart Flutterby I don't know what will. Unless your heart is cast in stone like an Oynx, you shouldn't wait till you're as old as an Omanyte to tell your true love how you feel.

Greg eating bacon

As part of my bacon series, here is a photo of my friend Greg aka the President of Food Club, getting down to bacon business.
(Stole this off his FB, think Ro was the photographer.)

PS. Mariam tried telling me about Bacon Bazookas, and I excitedly did a google search and apparently those don't launch bacon, they're just wrapped in bacon. =[
